The U16 Sharkettes had their first run out of the season at Cambuslang this afternoon, competing as a joint team with Moffat as part of the National 2 league.
They played two full-pitch half-hour games at 9 or 10 a side in searing heat. First up were Wigtownshire, who posed a really physical test, with both sides really going at it hammer and tong. The scores went back and forth, with the Moffat/Stewartry team just edging it by a couple of scores at the end.
Second up were hosts Cambuslang who posed a really good test, with some big runners breaking the line and taking an early lead. However, the team bounced back and got back on terms with some great direct running and short-range passing.
The squad size and ability to bring on fresh legs gave Cambuslang an edge, however, and gradually the home team pulled away to take a convincing win at the end.
