Club News, Covid Updates | 14th Sep 2020
14th September 2020
Scottish Rugby can confirm that the club game can move from Return to Rugby Stage 3 to Stage 4 of the Scottish Rugby Return to Rugby Roadmap as of 14 September 2020. This step has been approved by the Scottish Government.
As of 14 September, modified full contact activities and small sided games (restrictions apply) can resume for all age groups (excluding P1-3 age groups). The reinstatement of modified full contact activity is important to ensure players are able to start preparing and conditioning themselves appropriately for the return to normality with regular training and matches.
Specific training conditions will allow the return of 1v1 tackling, 1v1 scrums, modified lineouts and rucks. Mauls and full scrums are still not permissible as the transmission exposure risk, due to prolonged face to face contact, remains high.
Players at Stewartry RFC can now progress into their new age groups this week.
To support the preparation for a return to competitive rugby, indicative dates for future Return to Rugby stages have been announced and outlined in the Return to Rugby Roadmap. The return to full contact activities (Return to Rugby Stage 5) is scheduled to commence from the 5 October 2020, with non-competitive match play (friendlies) permitted as of 19 October with the indicative date for the return of competitive rugby is 31 October as per previous communications. All indicative dates are subject to approval and guidance from The Scottish Government.
The Return to Rugby stage 4 guidance is available to download below with an accompanying webinar available to view via the Scottish Rugby website 👇

Dooley appointed to tackle Covid
Clare Dooley has been appointed Covid Safety Officer at Stewartry Rugby Club for the upcoming season. Clare, a teacher at Springholm Primary, is well aware of the challenges facing all us going into a “new normal” in 2020. Using her experience and knowledge of how education is tackling covid restrictions Clare’s insight will be of great benefit to SRFC as we build towards a return to rugby.

Stewartry RFC are extremely excited seeing Scottish Rugby’s announcement on Friday morning outlining the phased return to Adult rugby in Scotland and today’s announcement that U17 can return to contact rugby.
We welcome the guidance and can’t wait to get back to providing rugby for the community again.
As I’m sure you will imagine there will be a new look to “normal” operating when we get to open our doors.
We have a Covid Response Group currently going through these preparations and have appointed Clare Dooley as Covid Safety Coordinator to provide guidance.
As we make preparations to reopen we ask everyone to be patient and we will communicate with everyone about the new procedures will look like.
Our priority will always be the safety of our members, staff and volunteers.
Thank you for your patience and stay safe.
